We have discussed the whys and hows of eating a grain-free diet in my last posts. Now I’d like to point you toward some of my favorite grain-free recipes that really make me feel like I am eating “normally” alongside my family.
If you are also looking to make the change, I would recommend dropping all grains and grain containing food (packaged foods, sauces, etc…). Your pallet will change and then accept the substitutes easier. Foods made from grain replacements tend to be higher protein and more nutritious in general, but they are not exactly the same as the foods we are used to. When you take the time to get rid of the things you associate with tasty grain foods, you are also eating much closer to the way human bodies were meant to eat.
You could even try a full-on elimination diet of your choice to kick off. I guarantee you will feel amazing and it highlights what may be bothering you when you add things back in. That is how I started and it really narrows the scope so you can focus on what works and what doesn’t for your body. Once I gave my body some time to heal, I wanted to recreate some of my favorite foods and go-to foods. I make all four of these recipes below in bulk on a regular basis. It makes my life easier and yummier.
Bread
Paleo Sandwich Bread from Paleo Running Mama
This has been my go-to for toast, sandwiches, croutons, and even stuffing at the holidays!

Crackers/Tortilla Chips
Homemade Paleo Tortilla Chips from Paleo Grubs
These can be made thinner as tortilla chips or a little thicker and cut into crackers.

Pizza Crust
Pizza Crust also from Paleo Running Mama
This pizza crust makes an amazing thin crust pizza with surprising flexibility, which I like in a pizza. The dough makes 2 personal size pizzas, so I make two and freeze one for our next pizza night.

Wrap/Tortilla
5 Minute Cassava Flour Tortillas from Paleo Gluten Free
I like lettuce for burgers and wraps, but sometimes you need a tortilla and these are awesome!
